I decided to pick the shark attack picture for several reasons. I picked this picture because my first reaction to the photo was Whoa! I thought it looked really cool how the shark was coming out of the water trying to attack the U.S. Air Force helicopter. The picture originated in 2001 and was originally a picture of a U.S. Air Force helicopter hovering on top of water with someone on a ladder coming out of the helicopter going into the water by what it looks like. The picture was manipulated with the addition of the shark. There was no actual shark attacking the helicopter, but someone added the shark to make the picture look more dramatic. The picture was manipulated because someone wanted the picture to have more of an effect on the viewer, and to maybe to emphasize the fact that being in the U.S. Air Force is no walk in the park, but a very serious job which could be very dangerous. I don't necessarily think that the manipulation was harmful because all it does is give the picture more of a dramatic effect. The original picture is interesting to look at, but the picture with the shark added is way more appealing to the viewer I think. Whoever added the shark just wanted to give the picture more flare that's all. No harm done. Overall, the picture is something that will definitely catch your attention and this is why I think I chose this one out of all of them.

I really liked that shark picture as well. I saw it and nearly fell out of my chair laughing. It really demonstrated how badly some digital editing can be.

Ha does this picture make you want to join the US Air Force? I could see how they would use this as a recruiting technique.
I thought the shark was pretty funny, and I agree that no harm was done.
I thought it was pretty funny too. I really reminded me of a modern day Jaws trying to bite a soldier out of the air. It doesn't look to believable but I don't know if that was the creator's intent.
Yeah, I really don't see how any harm could have been done by this picture. But I don't think that the picture looked very realistic.
I dont think it was harmful either and I am also confused as to how it promotes the Air Force. Its a really cool picure though!
Agreed, I think that the photographer or photo editor or whoever is responsible for this epic image was just messing around. The first time I saw this image I thought it was the coolest thing possible, and it was still pretty sweet when I realized that it was obviously not real.
It is quite the laugh-provoker. I like how you said that it was probably a tactic to make the U.S. Airforce not seem like a walk-in-the-park. If anything though I think this "cheeses" it up and makes it seem less demanding than it is.
